PAGE RANK DEFINES THE EXTERNAL CREDIBILITY OF A WEB PAGE.
Page rank is many things. 'Page Rank is a trademark claimed by Google.
Page Rank is a search algorithm that analyzes all the web pages linking to the subject web page, creates a factor. It was first written about and ultimately patented by Larry Page, the co-founder of Google, while PhD candidates at Stanford University. Of course, we can only estimate the Page Rank algorithm and see it in production. The Google Toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Firefox browsers shows the page rank for any page presented in the browser.
The page rank algorithm assigns a numerical value to the quality of the page A (how many other pages link to that page together with the content of that page). Then it associates that value with the link to your page B, delivering some fraction of value to your page B's page rank.
Page Rank is non-trivial.
That's because Google penalizes those who try to 'game' the page rank algorithm. Some enterprising folks built whole websites full of links to paying customers. Hundreds or thousands of links to other sites with no rhyme or reason, except economic. Google claims to calculate the link density of a site, or web page, and even validates those domains from a single IP address. You would host many services from a single IP address if you were trying to inexpensively fool the search engine community.
So, how can you improve your page rank?
The good news is you don't have to work too hard. You just have to figure out how to imbed links back to your site into your existing channel sales and marketing efforts. You also need to collect these links so that you can pass them onto Google. That's where Googlemeister can help. |
